UK CHART: Final Fantasy XIII-2 takes the throne

Square Enix sequel finally topples FIFA

Final Fantasy XIII-2 has taken the top spot in this week's UK all-formats chart, finally removing FIFA 12 from its long spell at No. 1.

Elsewhere in this week's chart Metal Gear Solid HD Collection debuts at No. 2, while fellow new entry SoulCalibur V makes its first appearance in the No. 5 position.

Meanwhile, 505's pair of Zumba titles have moved out of top ten, but we have a funny feeling they'll be back.

SERIOUSLY! That POS is number one? WTF!

Oh well as long as CoD and BF arnt in the number one spot I suppose it's all good.

Hey MGS HD collection is Second though, that's a pretty good position for a remake at least. Sadly the online component does not reflect this position, with little to no online games to be found.

Surprised to see it on the top spot because it hasn't really been getting the hype 13 did. I've been playing it most of the weekend and yes they've fixed pretty much all my complaints from the first game. The story is still cack and somehow even more complicated than 13!

Im not surprised that the MGS collection is so high, all the videogame retailers I went to were sold out of their copies when I went to pick it up this weekend. Was lucky that my local Tesco's still had some in.

Glad to see something other than a sports title or COD take the top spot. Certainly says something when so many people are claiming they are ready to give up on the final Fantasy series, but hasnt stopped it from topping the list!

I'm glad it's number one, makes a nice change from FPS and football titles. But there's just so much to do in FFXIII... I want all them monsters nomnomnomnom but I don't know which one's are best! Sad smiley face.

Never been a fan of Metal Gear games, so the HD remakes won't change my mind.

Gamestation I got my MGS: HD from sold me their last copy on the day of release at 11:30am!

Also have a friend who went to pre-order it from GAME and they told him not to bother as 'no one will bother buying it'.

No wonder GAME is going out of business...

Good to see. FFXIII-2 started off slow for me but about 20 hours in and it's starting to get interesting. p**s easy so far though especially compared to the first game.

It's great to see Rayman Origins in the Top 20. criminally overlooked if you ask me. I managed to snag a copy of MGS HD and am finally playing through MGS 3. Once you get passed the god awful introduction it does get pretty good. Not a shade on Peacewalker but still rather good all the same. Tempted to Go hunting for me copy of Twin snakes just to fill in all the gaps and playthrough them all in chronological order (storywise to see if it makes anymore sense at the end.

I had similar in my town.

HMV & Gamestation sold out before 11.30am. I bought mine from ASDA, they had empty shelves, luckily had three PS3 copies behind counter.

As for GAME, who were selling it at the highest price in my town, full shelves.

I'm trying decide if I should do the same with the series, I've got them all ready to play. My only worry is doing it in the story order that the gameplay will be taking a drop from the awesome Snake Eater.

What idiots GAME hires. They can't stop anyone from pre-ordering it based on the opinions of the staff. I also don't understand how that can make any sense "No one will bother buying it"? WTF? Clearly the guy was wrong.

I’m so glad FIFA eventually got knocked off the top spot, it was quickly becoming the new Zumba, both through it’s extended stay at number 1, as well as my sheer dislike for the title and opinion that the world would be a better place without its existence.

bit harsh on the best football game of all time (probably).

Except Kick Off 2 or Match Day 2 of course.

Well perhaps I did overreacted a little, but I don't get why games like CoD, Assassin's Creed and now Final Fantasy XIII-2 get shot down for not significantly changing the formula between releases, while sports titles implement less changes, admittedly they can’t drastically change much, but continue to get praised year after year. Also annual releases of CoD and Assassins Creed cause people to tire of the franchise while FIFA is welcomed with open arms. To me FIFA didn't deserve its success and I'm glad it's finally off the top spot.
