You've got to love Markus 'Notch' Persson, the creator of Minecraft. Last year he responded to legal threats from Bethesda by offering to settle the dispute over a game of Quake 3.

Yesterday it was reported that Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine and creator of Psychonauts, Grim Fandango and Full Throttle - amongst numerous other excellent titles - has been pitching Psychonauts 2, but publishers aren't interested.
The Minecraft creator spotted the statement on Twitter and sent a public message to Schafer saying "Let's make Psychonauts 2 happen," following up with "Also, I'm serious."
A Double Fine spokesperson has confirmed to Eurogamer that the duo are now in discussions.
"Tim and Markus are talking. Who knows what might happen?"
Last year Double Fine Productions bought back the publishing rights to Psychonauts. Schafer later said that he's "ready" to do a sequel to the much-loved platformer.

Notch Deserves an award for services to gaming or some such. If this deal goes through just think about it. A Proper sequel to psychonauts made just the way Shaeffer would like. Damn this is amazing news.
the gaming world needs more people like notch and shaefer so hearing they might be working together is a dream come true.

I've never played anything by Notch; yet still, I want to have his bizarre cuboidal babies.

Sadly the money paying masses overlooked the original PsychoNauts, and a few other gem titles by poeple/companies like Tim/Double Fine etc.

Yes they did and they continue to, But i'd say that its not necessarily their fault entirely. It's not like The games of shaefer and co get much publisicty. Publishers OK them and then fail to back them in any meaningful way. What EA did with Brutal Legend didn't help the game at all. Which is a shame because its brilliant for what it is. A third person RTS. which are incredibly at the best of times. last one i played before it was Sacrifice. They pulled a classic bait and switch with the advertising and promotion of it. They gave the game a lot of coverage but backed it as a straight hack and slash adventure even down to the demo, then whne people played the full game and got something different word quickly got out and a lot of people got a bad taste in their mouths before they'd even put the disc in the tray.
Its a shame because on its own merits a great game and one of the few console rtss that although simple. really did worrkwhen you got into it.
Most overlooked games have charm by the buscketload and show what gaming is really capable of sadly the games industry, much like evey other media inusty is being held to rensom by a bunch of middle men that have no vested interest in creativity or the furtherment of modern culture only in the pursuit of wealth. With the internet these bastards could finally be roasted from there seats of power and cast off as the pointless jailers of intelectual pursuits they've become. When every dev in the world could potentially self publish if they can only get backing from somewhere what need is there for publishers. Put simply there isn't.
