Sony's set to release a new PlayStation 3 firmware update, v4.10, today, it's confirmed.

"Please note that this change is one in name only and will not change the PSN that you know and love," the platform holder notes on the official PS Blog.
"You'll still play games online, still have access to the latest downloadable games and add-ons, and still experience a wide variety of movies, sports and music across PSN."
Firmware v4.10 also updates the PS3 Internet Browser with "improved display speed".

Well , i would like the chance to change my main ID (as its crap) they do this on xbox live for £5, and just so you know Kaz, the ps3 has to do everything the 360 does and more to win, so fix it dick head

Just installed 4.10.
The SEN update doesn't seem to have changed the name of the Playstation®Network icon which lets you sign into SEN and manage your account and go to the store. Oops!
ANY upgrade to the internet browser is appreiciated though, it was a completely terrible browser before, now it's only a crap browser. Loads up CVG properly, eventually, so that's something.
*edit* I just tried scrolling down the CVG page on the new improved browser and it can't seem to tell where the adverts are supposed to go, instead flipping out and overlaying them on the articles then going back to where they should be, then flipping out again. I wish I could put Firefox on there.

Was there a point to this?

Wow, that is some big news right there
I'm sure, of all the things that PS3 owners had on their future development wishlist, an account name change (which now reads the same as the acronym for 'Special Educational Needs' in the UK) and slightly improved performance of the useless browser were numbers 1 and 2 on that list (in no particular order).

I'll always call it psn regardless of what retarded name changes they throw in there.

Maybe you should have just picked a decent ID to begin with?
And as for doing everything 360 does, it does more, like the web browser.

I'm happy about the improved PS3 browser. I have been using it for years and it was a right pain.
Next update hopefully adds PS2 emulation

Dropbox support and a clock that can keep time are welcome additions.
I don't use the browser and couldn't careless what the network is called so those changes don't bother me in the slightest.

5 years later we have a clock that tells the correct time at all times.

Lol. No chance on that one - if you weren't willing to shell out for the original ps3 with ps2 built in you certainly aren't going to get it for free now.
The ps3 of today is nothing but a cheap imitation knock off of the original.
