Activision has announced it will be joining forces with Hasbro to release a first-person shooter/tactical naval warfare hybrid inspired by the classic Battleship IP.

According to the official release, Battleship follows Cole Mathis, an elite demolitions specialist, as he squares off attempts to handle "an aquatic-based extraterrestrial peril in the sand and sea of the beautiful Hawaiian archipelago".
Apparently old Cole has managed to get himself trapped in a communication dead zone and is forced to command the U.S. Navy fleet in a "siege on the sea."
As if that wasn't enough of a workload, he's also got to rally troops on land for "war on the shore." Tough break.
"With a BATTLESHIP videogame, we have an amazing opportunity to take our beloved property and give it a modern-day spin," said Hasbro's Mark Blecher.
"The merging of tactical and action elements immerses players in an epic maritime conflict. Activision is completely up to the task of delivering a high-intensity thrill ride that's perfectly suited for today's console owners."

I'm shocked they got Liam Neeson to sign up for this drivel, I can only guess he got paid s**t loads.

You see........... Its crap like this that makes a mockery of the industry demanding tax breaks.
The sheer amount of cash Activision would have spent securring the license for this quite obvious pile of arse, the advertising spend, the development of yet another FPS... yay. I dont care if it says it has this and that, its an fps.
The guys that are developing this will be gone soon, their track record is weak and as we all know Activision like to buy up companies force them to churn out turd they dont want to make then dissolve the studio within 2 years.
I will be back to post i told you so when the news breaks about this game sucking and also when the idiots who sold their soul to Activision and made it are gone as well.
The film also looks terrible, it just looks like a transformers film, i swear those awfull sound banks of robots moving around will be with us forever.
If michael bay has anything to do with it then watch out for slow moving helicopters and that fuddda fud fud noise that he loves so much, he even got that crap into the trailer for a need for speed game.
