Activision is already pumped for this year's new Call of Duty game, which it says is looking "fantastic".

It was obviously mum on specifics, but went on to express its unsurprising optimism for the upcoming release, for which it promises "meaningful innovations".
"This year we expect to further expand our presence with the launch of an all-new epic first-person shooter title under the Call of Duty brand. From what we've seen to date, the game already looks fantastic and will bring meaningful innovations to the franchise," it later added.
How can Treyarch innovate this year? Requests, readers?

Call of duty is now an intense rts with amazing convincing destruction and a story that raises questions about humanities complex relationship with war. Those who have been given private readings of the dialogue have broken into tears due to the power and depth of the words spoken from the most amazing collection of voice actors the industry has ever seen. The game will have the player questioning not just there place in war but in life itself.

"New Call of Duty promising 'meaningful innovations'" I never though I would read the word "Innovations" and "Call of Duty" in a same sentence ever again.

Im hoping for bigger maps & vehicles. BF3's scale combined with Cod's fast paced gunplay would be pretty sweet. I know, im daydreaming lol

Who is the sadder, the lover or the hater?
Come on though it's like a gerbil trying to stop a freight train, also it is damned if it does and damned if it doesn't as a franchise.

I think that's a little harsh... At least for me, the MW 1-3 storyline was one of the best things about the series. Story-wise better than the single-player campaigns of the Battlefields and Medal Of Honour. Some of the scenes were thrilling to play through. I guess at least for someone like me, who grew up during the cold war. Fighting off the invasion in the American suburbs (There are some Stinger missiles on the roof of Nate's diner!
), retaking the White House and assisting the Czech resistance in MW3 were some of my favourite moments. Unforgettable stuff.
Spec-Ops mode is fine too, just give me more missions. Survival mode is more problematic. I was initially addicted, but now I'm tired of fighting through the easy waves 1-20 every time, until the real action begins after those. There should be a way to skip some of the earlier waves, if you earned a lot of cash and did well during the early waves.

I actually didnt mean to be harsh. I have nothing against cod and i'm not one of those people that believe it or any other game is killing the industry. I cant comment on their story but even the best video game stories are usually average or just bad, but they are still engaging because of gameplay and presentation. I wrote it more to have fun with people who hate cod, i dont even like rts's. Everyone enjoy your games!

Hey I'm not a hater, there's a difference between "hating" and enjoying something while also being aware of and not tolerant of it's faults.
Same goes for the "competition".
I wouldn't be shocked if they added an invisibility cloak killstreak in the next game.

Activision in "please buy our game, I promise it's not just the same reheated game we've been releasing every year since 2006, honest. No, that's not my fingers crossed behind my backs....I'm......er......just exercising my fingers for the new CoD, that's all. Did I tell you it's amazing and not at ALL the exact same as all the others....no siree. Nothing like them. No word of a lie. Please buy it, pleeeeeease." shocker.

probably just innovating new ways to screw more money out of their customers and innovating a new way to create an even shorter campaign but still be legally able to say it has a single player game.

MP wise, they can innovate by making the maps more dynamic. By that I mean, why always put the players in a map of an already ruined city or building, where the war obviously has been raging long before we got there. Why not let the players start off the MP match in an untouched city or landscape? Where we go in to meet the enemy for the first time. Where our actions during that MP session, will cause destruction, and mayhem ,and create the ruins and burning buildings etc. which we see when we're starting matches in todays un-dynamic maps?

Bring back co-op campaign , gun game so I can play knife only and annoy the s**t out of the tryhards and plenty of zombie maps then il buy the hardened edition for £50 at grainger games at christmas.
murph_77 on 10 Feb '12 said:
The meaningful innovations will be pin point hit detection, no lag compensation, no lag and a game that works on PS3 straight of the box. Everything else is the same!!
svd_grasshopper on 10 Feb '12 said:
i think he has probably confused 'meaningful innovations' with 'new features'.
and i doubt they could do real destructible environments at 60fps. even if it was that, it ain't no innovation if someone else got there first.

You'd be dreaming to think Treyarch would have dynamic maps and vehicles, because;
1. You'd need a new engine that could do dynamic environments, which IW would need to build, which they won't, because the current one "is perfectly fine"
2. Treyarch had tanks in WaW, and people complained about them and therefore didn't use them.
3.Pointless to make big maps with small servers, and only infantry combat
CoD has never had anything innovating, only copying from other games and say it's "brand new".

I can see the faults with COD but because I enjoy it a lot I tend to speak more of it's good points than it's negatives. After all there are plenty of people on here to do that
Old Skool Gamer on 10 Feb '12 said:
Would be nice to have more players like Ground War with bigger more classic COD maps, and a few vehicles thrown in like BF, then it would be worth looking at again, game engine is the same since COD2, they won't build another one until the next gen.
fatherofthenoo on 10 Feb '12 said:
The COD franchise is a perfect example of how stunning current gen games can still look and sound (I haven't played them but I have eyes and ears). Ergo, there is still no need for the next generation of consoles. Even MGS4 still wows me.

I've had every CoD since number 3 but by christ I'm done with this franchise.
Speaking of overkill I can't bring myself to start up AC Revelations either.

I enjoy B Ops but one request. Please PLEASE take the aim assist option OUT OF THE GAME. Give us an aiming system that actually works, aiming down the sights like we're supposed to. With aim assist turned off in B Ops the gun wavers all over the place, so make it on as standard, don't make it an option in the new game because it's total b*****ks.

KK-Headcharge78 on 11 Feb '12 said:
Ha that is funny, jesus man are you blind, if a dead franchise is one racking up over 120 million sales and counting, with 2 games still top of the MP charts for the no.1 console then you sir are either p**sed, a fan boy or stupid.
It's ok just to not like it you know, don't make yourself look like an idiot in the process.

My top requests:
Destructible terrain
Long range combat
More open-world environment
Better weapon sound effects
Dismemberment where appropriate
Ability to complete missions in non-linear fashion
Variety of game modes (stopping a convoy / protecting a VIP / escaping from being taken hostage etc)
