Remedy: 'We're not done with Alan Wake'

Developer will "certainly continue with Wake" after American Nightmare

Remedy boss, Matias Myllyrinne, has said the developer hopes to continue working on new Alan Wake projects in the future.

Speaking to Joystiq, Myllyrinne confirmed the studio is owner of the IP and as a result is in a position to give its fans what they want,

"We're crowd pleasers, we'll do what the audience wants, 'cause usually that's the good business move as well," he said.

After a middling sales performance Remedy opted to release its latest Alan Wake title, American Nightmare, digitally through the Xbox Live Arcade platform. It is scheduled for release as part of Microsoft's 'XBLA House Party' alongside I Am Alive, Warp and Nexuiz.

The Remedy boss said the studio is enjoying the digital delivery angle and could pursue it further to provide fans with more bite-sized Alan Wake experiences.

"I'm loving the digital [distribution] side and we'll see how that evolves, but just being able to give people quick access to bite-size chunks of gaming is maybe more fun than working for years and years - taking the phone offline and closing the shutters- at least, this way, you're able to react much more quickly to people's desires and wishes."

According to Myllyrinne he hopes to give fans "one or two surprises", but whether that happens depends on how American Nightmare PC version of Alan Wake performs.

"Hopefully, we'll have one or two surprises... I don't know. I don't know if that would dictate it. If it bombs [laughs], then that's certainly a signal, but we're fairly confident that it'll do well. We'll certainly continue with Wake. Right now we're focusing on getting the PC out next week, then getting American Nightmare out.."

"And it's too early to talk about what our next move is, but we've obviously put things into motion."

Remedy has started hiring for what it's calling a "groundbreaking AAA console project."

Quite simply, if you have a 360, pick up a 'new' copy of Alan Wake (its really cheap now!) and enjoy it!

Once you do that, download AN for 1200 MS points and we get to experience more from the crazy guys over at Remedy :D !

i appreciate how enthusiastic you are but aren't you even a little bit annoyed it's a full on action game now?

It's a spin-off dude, stated repeatedly by Remedy themselves. When AW2 surfaces, it will be more in line with what AW2 was. With improvements of course.

This is a bite sized Wake. Its still got Sam Lake and Mikki writing it, its still going to be mental and they basically just want to push the appeal of the Game so we can get the 'proper' sequel that the Franchise deserves.

Remedy have never let me down with any of their Games before, from Death Rally and Max Payne to Wake. I dont expect them to start to now. Have faith dicky.

I'm glad to hear Remedy want to continue working on Alan Wake; I'd prefer a full fat instalment next though, bite size releases are just a tease!
