Disappointing sales of underrated Xbox 360 and PS3 adventure, Enslaved saw a planned multiplayer mode get cut, its developer has revealed.
Speaking in the latest Edge, which is out now, Ninja Theory confessed the game's disappointing reception nixed a sequel and even mooted DLC, including a downloadable multiplayer online game featuring Monkey's skateboard-esque 'cloud'.
Still, creative director Tameem Antoniades seems undecided about its legacy.
He told Edge: "I'm not sure. We wanted to create affecting characters that felt more like real people than cardboard cutouts. If the game had been more successful, perhaps other games would follow suit and deem it a worthwhile pursuit.
"But perhaps instead it will be held as an example of why it doesn't matter. Either way, it won't stop us from trying. I truly believe characters and story can elevate the gameplay and affect people in deep and satisfying ways."
Ninja Theory is currently working on DMC for Capcom.
