Sega has taken its merry time with Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2, but the internet has stuck back - below are the first screenshots of the game.

The screens show Sonic adventuring alongside Tails, plus various environments including ice, temple, carnival and industrial locals. There's also a 3D half pipe stage, and a level that looks to have Sonic snowboarding down a snowy mountain. Awesome.
Sega has previously only released a teaser trailer that's void of gameplay, and made no mention of a release more specific than 2012.
Episode 2 will launch on PSN, Xbox Live Arcade, iOS, Windows Phone and Android. It will not join its predecessor on the Wii, however.

The snowy level looks lovely and the roller-coaster level should fit Sonic like a glove. Good to hear it's coming to Android as well, hopefully with xperia Play-optimized controls, like Sonic CD.

Sonic himself looks much better too, better than the ultra shiny plastic look of episode 1.

To me the sonic 4 episodes are like an homage to the mega-drive games more than a completely new game, i know this may be what they were looking to do but the bosses from the mega drive games and the older labyrinth zone stage from the first sonic and now the sonic 2-esc special stage and the snowboarding from sonic 3 with tails and metal sonic to boot just brings it all together here. I liked the first episode for what it was and am definitely looking forward to episode 2
(Yes i do love the sonic games

Well, it looks better- but Sonic 4 played like a complete dog. Was ridiculously expensive for the amount of content too. A demo will very much be in order.

Well this does look better than the first episode, also it seems it has 2 player co-op like the old sonics. From what I see here though it's a lot of remade or re-imagined levels from sonic 2, sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. This isn't in itself a bad thing but if the majority of the game consists of remade levels and bosses it will be a shame (although I really wanted an aquatic zone remake on the sonic generation game so glad to see it here).
I really hope they come up with some new bosses for this game though, it's getting old having to face the same ones again and then all of them again at the end of tthe first episode. Seriously get some imagination!! Add some creativity to the boss fights, give us something frsh and enjoyable
Well here's hoping this is a good game and better than episode 1.

Nice to see them using the Generations engine.
Now if only they'd remake Sonic 2 with the same engine
