Minecraft Lego looks very cool

Has actual mines!

Mojang and The Lego Group have finally shown off the Minecraft inspired Lego set and - surprisingly - it's not just a reskin of all the classic pieces.

The set will be released this summer with a price tag of $34.99 in the US and €34.99 in Europe. A set contains four modular cubes and the surface of each can be removed to reveal mines and hidden resources beneath. Excited yet?

Steve and a Creeper, two of the game's most iconic characters, will also be included with the set.

At a press conference earlier today, Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson said: "I played a lot with Lego bricks as a child, and that's influenced how I make games. I prefer games with levels that are modifiable. I don't like static levels.

"There are problems of scaling. Minecraft has huge long tunnels, and you can't really fit that in to a living room. But I think the Lego guys have created something that's really great, that really feels like Minecraft."

Paal Smith-Meyer, head of Lego's business group, added: "Lego Minecraft Micro World is designed to celebrate the essence of the Lego concept and the Minecraft gaming experience."

You can pre-order it here now.

With all due respect, to me Minecraft was basically Lego: The Game, in a REALLY good way. Now we have Lego: The Game, The Model. ouch my brain :(
