Bobby Kotick joins Coca-Cola board - yearly updates incoming?

Activision boss to offer "digital knowledge"

Love-him-or-hate-him Activision Blizzard boss Bobby Kotick has joined The Coca-Cola Company's board of directors effective immediately.

Kotick, who's been CEO of the Call of Duty publisher since 1991, will offer Coke his "financial literacy and digital knowledge". And ideas for a Sprite subscription service with monthly DLC drops (not really).

"Bobby brings an entrepreneurial mindset and a high level of financial literacy and digital knowledge to our Company," said Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company.

"His global brand expertise and insight will be invaluable as we continue to grow our business and invest in enhancing our digital engagement with consumers and customers around the world."

From 2003 to 2008, Kotick served as a director of Yahoo! Inc. More recently, he was also in a movie with Brad Pitt.

Whatever will Bobby do next?

Coca Cola 2: Modern Recipe coming soon.

The exact same but the can is a different shade of red and costs more than other soft drinks.

2 quid for 2 litres, but its an extra 20p if you want the bottle too!

    Pepsi anyone?

I guess this means if you don't pre-order the Coke it won't come with any fizz and the ring-pull will be a day one DLC item.

It'd be interesting what fantastic cross promotion comes of this. War time varieties of coke and fanta to promote Cal of Duty. Fanta will obviously only be available in germany though. History is fun.

    Bobby brings an entrepreneurial mindset

I would question how entrepreneurial the mantra 'push it out, wait a year, polish it, push it out, wait a year, polish it, push it out, wait a year, polish it, push it out, wait a year, polish it, push it out' actually is....

One of 'em makes you burp a lot, rots your teeth and is no good whatsoever for children.

The other one's a fizzy drink.

Oh well. I needed to stop drinking Coke anyways. Looks like this is a perfect incentive.

What does Coca-cola want from a new board member?

Someone that will help them to keep repackaging the same product and selling it to you over and over... Bobby is almost over-qualified!!!

No Russian will drink it though!

You do realise the Coca Cola Company, along with pretty much every other company of similar size, has been own by a similar **** for... well, forever? It's just you haven't known about them because they weren't in the videogames industry.

As a matter of interest how old are you?

To be fair to him Coca-Cola is much better than Pepsi.

Rola Cola was a different beast altogether though, he couldn't have handled that.

Freeway Cola from Lidl is the dog's nuts, just as good as the real thing and really cheap compared to Coca-Cola.

Tesco's Cola is also really good.
