UK CHART: UFC Undisputed 3 debuts at No.1

THQ scores its first chart-topper since last March's Homefront

UFC Undisputed 3 debuts at No.1 on the UK all formats chart, something its predecessor failed to manage despite shifting more copies during its launch week back in 2010.

It's the first UK chart-topper for troubled publisher THQ since the release of Homefront last March, although sales monitor Chart-Track said the original title in the series outperformed the latest game's launch week by more than three to one.

Chart mainstays FIFA 12 and Modern Warfare 3 take the next two spots, ahead of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games and Battlefield 3.

Last week's best-seller, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, slips to No.12 after a 63 per cent drop in weekly sales.

GfK/Chart-Track Top 10 (week ended January 21):

  1. UFC Undisputed 3 (THQ)
  2. FIFA 12 (EA)
  3. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Activision)
  4. Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Sega)
  5. Battlefield 3 (EA)
  6. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Square Enix)
  7. Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure (Activision)
  8. The Darkness 2 (2K Games)
  9. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)
  10. Just Dance 3 (Ubisoft)

Why are people buying skylanders? Really? Anyway, I'm not a fan of boxing games, I'm not even sure if that is a boxing game or a wrestling game, same thing I suppose. Good to see mario above battlefield. :)
