Escape Plan review: Every unique Vita feature... except colour

It's back to black in this inventive noir brainteaser

Escape Plan is one of the more leftfield PS Vita launch titles, a point-and-click curio from an untested developer.

In a turn as odd as the game itself, Fun Bits disregards the Vita's visual potential in favour of just two colours: black and white.

But it works, giving odd character to a game with, well, odd characters. Help Lil and Laarg move through booby trapped rooms like gothic lemmings. In one, tilt to manoeuvre the helium-inflated duo. Or knock platforms with the touchpad.

Multi-touch is put to interesting use, making you block noxious fumes with a finger while swiping with another. You can even 'pinch' your guys to safety. So, every unique PS Vita feature but colour, then.

The verdict

8.1 10

Sometimes ponderous, Escape Plan redeems its 'tap everything' trial and error through gorgeous visuals and clever puzzles.

So far this is the only game on the PSV that has genuinely peaked my interest. It looks unique and engaging.
