Specialist retailer GAME won't be stocking Ubisoft's Vita launch titles.

The firm said in a statement to CVG: "At this time we will not be selling the following Ubisoft titles; Lumines Electronic Symphony, Michael Jackson the Experience, Rayman Origins, Asphalt Injection and Dungeon Hunter Alliance.
"All customers affected by this decision have been made aware of the situation and we will continue to communicate any updates to customers through our twitter and Facebook feeds."
GAME added: "As the official launch partner for PlayStationVita we are pulling out all the stops to make this hugely anticipated hardware release as exciting as possible for our customers.
"Alongside this new console, we are launching a number of great titles for PlayStationVita with customers being able to buy fantastic games from the likes of Sony, EA, Codemasters, Namco Bandai, Capcom and Sega."
GAME has encountered a number of stock issues since it emerged that the firm was facing credit insurance problems.

This the day after they replaced all pre-orders of the limited edition Last Story on Wii with the standard version without telling anyone.

Was in a Game store on the weekend and there was literately NO stock of any kind for any platform. The shelves just looked bare (including the pre-owned shelves...) and it looked like a "Discount" Store (oh, the irony!) that was throwing a "closing down" sale.
Just sayin'...

Normally,i get fed up with people on here moaning and bitching about game.BUT....they are screwing up so often, its kinda hard to defend them.to now decide WHAT games jo public would like really is bloody dumb!

Man this is bad times
Game won't make it through this year.

Game looks like they can't afford to get stock.
As the Vita launch partner the fact that they don't even stock all Vita games is shocking.
Ubisoft maybe has no confidence in Game.
But whatever i'm sat here with my freshly arrived Lumines and Rayman with the Vita from shopto yay.!!

I wondered why I could see them on games website this morning I did have asphalt injection on preorder at the store not had anybody phone me today to let me know but I was having second thoughts after reading the reviews for it.
ricflair on 21 Feb '12 said:
I bet Sony are not happy about that at all. It's surely got to be a matter of time before Game go down the pan.
I'm slightly surprised Game went with the Vita at all, considering Sony are selling digital versions of all games - that's why I knew the digital versions wouldn't be cheaper in reality, retail would be very unimpressed.

Adapt, or die. I don't have any sympathy for GAME's predicament.

Has any thought maybe not enough people preordered ubi's games so game thought that it was not worth stocking then right now the rest of ubi's launch looks crap lumines what a crap game that was.

Yep they barely have any games nowadays. Even HMV have more games in stock than them.

Ahh CVG just LOVES any negative PSVita stories LoL It's just like the PS3 days(well they still do it for the PS3 anyway, the negative stories)

It dont matter if its a really crap, badly reviewed 10/100 game that most of us on here would not touch with a barge pole,it is not correct buisness practice to decide what people want to buy! Like i said before, didn't like all the GAME bashing on here before, but this and other quite frankly suicidal buisness decisions is making me change my mind.i feel if they do go down the pan, well, only themselves to blame.

Another reason to hate GAME, after they sold my copy of Final Fantasy XIII-2 Crystal Edition.

Game are idiots. They charge premium prices to experience a decidedly low rent, 3rd rate retail experience. I won't be shedding a tear when they go under.

Is it as bad as the loading screen in Marvel Super Hero Squad that describes the abilities each Soul Gem bestows even though they can't be used?
FASELI on 21 Feb '12 said:
Strangely enough Game have purchased the lion' share of VITA stock from Sony, about 56,000 units; unfortunately it looks like there is no money left for games.

Should the title be GAME aren't selling jack?
shadowsblaze on 21 Feb '12 said:
Hardly. Sony are selling the download version of Uncharted: Golden Abyss for £39.99. Got my copy from ShopTo for under £35.
billysastard on 21 Feb '12 said:
vav, what was in the crystal edition?
i got the limited edition version (£59.99) i got
cardboard outer box
ff13-2 game in standard green case,
lenticular card
some download crap i'll never use
audio cd
some art cards
a square registration card
a steelbook
some postcards
an art "book" (leaflet more like)
a novella.
what extras did the crystal edition have?
ricflair on 21 Feb '12 said:
Ummm... that's exactly what I said, that in reality the prices wouldn't be lower than retail, as who sells games at RRP, apart from Game, seemingly? It's £39.99 at Game's website, so they're shooting themselves in the foot. Again.

Oh dear. I feel sorry for some of the staff in the actual stores, but as far as the greedy c***s in head office go who make the big decisions, still insisting on pricing game at r.r.p (which we all know is a ridiculously over-inflated, unrealistically high price above and beyond what any sane person would realistically expect to pay) and promoting second-hand above new and shoving it in your face at every opportunity...well you reap what you sow.
alan666 on 21 Feb '12 said:
the title is misleading, why are GAME not selling Vita games ? i am getting tired of CVG just posting stories without doing any sort of research, there are any number of reasons why the games are not being stocked.
GAME are in trouble, yes we all know this, but from some of the recent stories on here it seems that CVG want GAME to fail
why not try & do something constructive, i don't know maybe put up a article asking how us gamers think GAME can improve & then let them know what feedback we give in a constructive way.
verynaughtyboy on 21 Feb '12 said:
Do you think it's possible that the ancient Mayans were thinking of GAME when they ended their calendar in 2012?
I am worried about GAME and Gamestation. The staff in my local stores are a great bunch and are all avid gamers. One of the managers was telling me how bad the situation is. For Kingdoms of Amalur, he only got stock to fulfill his pre-orders plus 3 copies - how are you supposed to make money on that. People have been coming in for the game and it is sold out, now they've stopped coming. Why keep coming into the store if they have no stock? It's easier to buy online. Their attempts to reduce loss on stock that they end up selling on sale at a reduced margin (or loss) is now losing them customets - how ironic!
They're pushing pre-orders now to guarantee you get your game but I don't want to go into the shop twice for something I should be able to do in one visit. I do worry about the chain but there is a strong feeling that the publishers won't let it fail! We'll see.

You know, this may not be due to Game's budget but something to do with whoever sells Ubisoft games to retailers. Then again, maybe they don't want to invest too much in handheled ubi games after the amount of shovelware they chugged out for the DS and 3DS!
Megatrons_Fury on 22 Feb '12 said:
I agree with the MAYAN calendar line...........
Everything that has happened to GAME recently happened in exact order to both Woolies and then Zavvi, there is no way they will survive as a high street retailer past 2013, i expect they will begin by closing down certain stores and european activities then look for a buyer for gamestation quick as possible then eventually just go to online only like woolies and zavvi both did.
Zavvi by the way are doing great now they are an online retailer only.
Had GAME not got greedy during the DS and WII mega bucks years and not bought Gamestation we would all still have a nice healthy high street games wise, now due to poor business decisions and even worse rescue plans from the current head office management team ( a joke by the way ) we will lose the industry specialist.
I feel sorry for those who work there and those who remained loyal and have no other game shops near them etc, i also feel sorry for all of us who now will have no choice, one by one they all go until we are left with mail order and supermarkets, great for price, no use at all as far as educating the next generation or that awesome release date purchse feeling you get when you actually go and get your own game.
In my town once game go we will be left with a CEX and thats it, apart from a couple of supermarkets, what a sad state of affairs, the people who know least about games, contributed the least to the industry now get to continue on.... Oh GAME you silly silly people.
Ho hum
Sneferu on 22 Feb '12 said:
GAME needs to shut some of its shops. Some towns have a Game and a Gamestation, one I know of has two Game shops and a Gamestation.

Oh be quiet, sick of listening to the rubbish about CVG and the PS3, would you prefer that they didnt report it? Would that keep you happy? If its bad news about anything Sony or Playstation, dont report it, ignore its there??? Or report it in a really nice tone? Some REALLLLLY good news today, GAME aint socking Ubisoft GAMES!!!!! How AMAZING, we couldnt wait to bring you this REALLY GOOD NEWS!!!! Which in no way makes us out to be against the PS3 or Sony!!!
Dont forget, its news, they would report it if it was the same happening to the 360!
flyfletch on 22 Feb '12 said:
Its true that it would be bad for publishers to let Game go down the pan, but the only thing the publishers could really do is give Game the games on sale or return, no money up front, cant imagine too many publishers loving that idea. You never know though, as this would vastly reduce the publishers exposure to potential customers if Game did go down.
One thing though, i have no sympathy at all for Game, they made this mess that they are in by themselves, no one else is to blame for it. Only people i have sympathy for are the thousands of staff who will be out of work.

All this GAME news seems very odd. I preordered my Diablo 3 collectors edition with them because they were one of the first UK stores with it available to preorder. Might have to cancel it and go with amazon as always if this kind of weird stuff keeps happening. One earlier poster said they mucked people preorders about?!
