Sony has drafted in a number of Western developers to support SCE Japan Studio's Team Ico on the highly anticipated and very long in the making The Last Guardian.

"He never left the team, he's on top of the game and the team is making progress. But the progress is slow and sometimes the team has to go back and review things," the exec said.
"There's a vision that we want to realise but it's very, very tough and [the] technical issue that the team is tackling and some plans have to be made to evaluate and go through the process.
"At one point the progress was great, so we talked about the timing of the launch in the past. But now it's making progress, but still not to the level - it's playable, but not to the point that we can talk about the timing of launch."
Among those now assisting Team Ico on the game is God of War developer Sony Santa Monica.
"Well, you know, it's not just Santa Monica," Yoshida said. "We have great tech people in Worldwide Studios. We have a central tech group in the U.S. and the U.K. so we are giving them whatever help they need. Technically, we have the best engineers in the U.S. and Europe, so these teams are helping them, giving advice."

It almost sounds like they were struggling with the technical architecture, and Santa Monica Studios have stepped in to advise (afterall, they did an amazing job with GOW3).
I, like many others, have such high hopes for TLG - I really hope the delays don't hinder the final product.

As long as they're just assisting on the technical side, I wouldn't get too concerned. I just don't want them messing with Team Ico's original vision for the game.

Sounds like an international team of medical experts drafted in to help save a dying patient! My big fear with TLG was always that they were trying to produce something too technologically advanced for even PS3. Really hope I'm wrong though.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was a love story between Kratos and that bird thing. And then at the end he stabs it in the eye and chops its head off. Wouldn't that be lovely.

Probably the only one who thinks this is GOOD news. It proves how ambitious this project is and just how committed SONY are to the it. This isn't just another tiresome Unreal Engine shooter being rolled out, this is something that will excite true gamers who've seen it all. And I'm damn well looking forward to it.
