Borderlands 2 will launch in the US on September 18 and internationally on September 21.

2K said the Gearbox developed PS3, Xbox 360 and PC game will be "bigger, better and more badass" than its excellent predecessor. Have a look at this new trailer:
According to today's press release:
Borderlands 2 features all-new characters; skills; imaginative, diverse new environments with unique missions and enemies; and more exciting and fun weapons, equipment and loot than ever before. All of these features come together in a story that takes players to the world of Pandora to take down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation as a solo campaign or with up to four cooperative players.
Borderlands 2 will allow friends to play together locally via split-screen, as well as online with drop-in-drop-out capabilities. With seamless cooperative gameplay and action, Borderlands 2 is extremely accessible for gamers and their friends to play alone or together in a variety of configurations.
"Borderlands 2 is a passion project, through and through," said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software. "The result is a sequel that has improved every successful aspect of Borderlands while innovating with an all-new experience."
Gamers who pre-order Borderlands 2 from participating retailers will gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, allowing them to download the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key and the Vault Hunter's Relic. The Gearbox Gun Pack is a collection of unique guns to help players begin their journey on Pandora. The Golden Key is an in-game item used to unlock a rare item in the mysterious Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest found in Borderlands 2. The Vault Hunter's Relic is an in-game item that boosts players' gear-hunting fortune while playing solo or teaming up with friends.

As long as they dont go changing too much then this is a day one purchase for me, i have done the original game on both PS3 and 360 numerous times and its easily one of the very best games of this generation.
Im a little worried about the dwarf character though, im a bit funny about how high i appear on screen its hard to explain i know but theres certain titles that either feel like your too close to the ground or that the gun is wonky and not in the right position...... Im probably making no sense here lol lol
Changes in scenery though will be a nice thing, the absolute only thing i think needed to be improved for sure was the variety in locations, the weapon modding thing sounds very cool as well though.
Roll on september, i almost never get excited about future games because theres too much to play now but in this case i will make an exception.

Still haven't played the first. Is it worth picking up cheap as this is mainly Co Op (right?), are there still people playing it online?

Well looks like i'm taking that weekend in september off.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Now just need to hear what awesome special editions they will have of it. Day one purchase for me and quite possibly the only game I'm gonna pre-order this year. The first game was just brilliant and possibly the only game where I started a second playthrough immediately after finishing it

Top banana and a few days before my birthday! Although I never got around to finishing the first; after two corrupted saves on my PS3 it went on EBay last week, but what I did play of it was great fun and still probably took about 20 hours.
Stonecold, do it coop. I played with reeg mainly and it's a reet laugh. Splitscreen was ok, but it simply isn't the same game solo, and random online is hit and miss.

If you got friends to play it with then absolutely.
If you plan to play it solo then I wouldn't bother.
One of the most boring experiences I've had this generation playing it solo.

Dude....... You need to get this situation sorted immediately, this game is from the same mould as BIOSHOCK, MASS EFFECT 2 etc etc its one of the titles of the generation.
If you get it let me know what console your on and i will jump in and help you out, 4 player co-op is a thing of beauty. You can buy this game for like 8 quid at dirty CEX etc so its a no-brainer.
And dont listen to dodo, he is the last of his species for a reason lol lol its fantastic however you play it.
Where you upto on mass effect 2 dodo???? before you finish the game you must let me give you a seriously important piece of advice, not joking buddy.

Cheers guys, good to know.
If im getting it, it'll be on 360 (obviously) so ill see what the good folk around here are playing in a few weeks time.
dicky1993 on 22 Feb '12 said:
have to disagree with dodo i had a hell of a time playing solo, some parts are a bit long winded and you do think you could do with a partner but you can get GOTY edition for £12 at PLAY on xbox, and if you really need a co-op partner, i'd gladly play it again
and if megatron has xbox i'll gladly join

I agree. Although The Zombie Island of Dr Ned is fun solo the main game is rather dull. I've still not beat it and lack the motivation to do so. I just find the mission structure to be dull. The lack of voice acting when you get a mission and the fact that there doesn't seem to be any connection to any of the characters is some of the reasons I feel this way. I hope in the sequel they fix these issues.

Ahhh Well my xbox live runs out in march so may be a problem helping you out there, after 7 years i have decided im not paying for the option to play the games i have already bought online. If you pick it up before then though i can easily help you level up super fast and give you some quality guns etc.
Theres still a lot of folk who play the 360 version though so you should be ok after march just make sure you host the game so you get to do the story missions and get the achievements and basically control everything lol.

I don't understand why people diss it so hard in solo either. I played both solo and co-op, and loved it both ways. The only advantage co-op has is that it a bit tougher, but with better rewards.

I've no idea Megatron.
Tali was my last recruit, but I been doing some side missions lately, did the one about Jacob's dad.
I'm waiting to find a way through the Omega relay. Currently on a ship fighting Blue Suns that have found something precious in cargo apparently.
Just found Borderlands a chore in solo, it was a boring, empty, lifeless world for me.

I've just finished getting the platinum trophy for the main game, and I agree with those that describe Borderlands as dull. Coming from someone who LOVED Diablo II, I was hoping for the same addictive loot-gathering gameplay. Instead, I found the whole experience to be really tedious. Environments end up feeling the same, enemies feel the same, even the guns feel the same.
The game's competently developed, and it was just never all that fun for me. Still, for those that loved it, news of a sequel is nothing but a good thing.

ok this is important dude........... SPOILERS for those who have not done MASS EFFECT 2
you absolutely must make sure you gain the loyalty of all your team members by doing their side missions before you get the last piece of equipment needed to go through the Omega 4 relay, in fact do everything you possibly can before doing the mission that will get you the IFF i wont tell you why this is important just trust me that it is.
I am actually doing the game again this time on 360 so that when 3 comes out i have a perfect save for both versions of the game hence why im not on the ps3 right now MASS EFFECT 2 is an absolute masterclass of a game and i never get tired of playing it.
Cant wait for 3 even if it does look jerky and has crap lip synch and cant wait for borderlands 2 and whilst im at it Bioshock infinite...... 2012 Best sequel year ever!!! lol lol
