Look, I can see very easily how this could be construed as trolling but well, I got to ask, I've held back ages......

Why is PSN down so much? Maybe I'm making a mistake, is it only like some services? But if not, you'd think they'd want to nail down a way of doing the repairs in the background and then just "patch" it or something.

They can't patch, fix or repair in the background. That will open backdoors for hackers. Thats why it'll be down for maintenance. I don't mind because we have a life to do other stuff too aswell as gaming.

    Ahh, the rage.

I'll be 14 days into my 30 day "all sales are final" run on twisted metal, which requires a bloody connection to PSN!

    ARGH!

Thats true but im limited to what I can do on a night as I live with my pregnant girlfriend and 2 year old son ... once he goes to bed I can either watch tv , play online/offline on my PS3 or play online/offline on my XBox 360 I just got Saints Row 3rd (ps3) and Alan Wakes American Nightmare this week and I still got Gears 3 campaign to finish so il have plenty to do.... only people this maintenance hurts are the casual gamers who like the odd game of Fifa or CoD on a night.

Maintenance is usually in the background so to speak. Usually you can still play online while they update stuff. This is just one of the times the whole of psn is down. No biggy as they're improving a service I don't pay for.

Thanks for the replies, but I still reckon there's got be a better way than taking it down altogether. Surely that's bad for buisness.

What do you mean down so much? They haven't been fully offline since that hacker breach fiasco. Anyway it will give those CoD multiplayer addicts a chance to play the campaign for once.
