Ubisoft Massive, the team behind World in Conflict and contributors to Assassin's Creed Revelations, will be working on the multiplayer component of Far Cry 3.
The news comes via a Tweet by Kotaku editor Stephen Totilo, who is attending the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
According to VoxGames' Brian Crecente, who has also been Tweeting from the event, Massive is creating an "online universe" for Far Cry 3's multiplayer and will include "elements from the indie scene and social games".
Apparently the studio is also working on an unannounced MMO. Could the two be tied together somehow?
