GameStop has reportedly expressed an interest in acquiring troubled retailer GAME Group's Iberian operation.
That's according to an Independent report, which makes no mention of GameStop being interested in snapping up GAME's 610 UK shops.
The story backs up one published last week by MCV, in which the trade publication claimed GameStop was keen to acquire its struggling European rival, but that the biggest sticking point over a potential deal was that the US firm didn't want to take on GAME's Australian business as it already has its own EB Games chain in Oz.
"It's widely known GameStop is looking at Europe," specifically UK and Spanish regions where GAME is market leader, publishing execs reportedly told the site.
GameStop runs 6,627 stores in 17 territories.
