Tesco positions itself as 'the home of gaming' following GAME collapse

New ad campaign doesn't pull any punches

Tesco's latest print ad campaign is positioning the supermarket as "the home of gaming" following the collapse of high street specialist GAME.

The ad, which features an image of a PlayStation 3 controller along with various annotations, boasts that Tesco has "the largest number of gaming stores in the UK".

Tesco's the latest retailer attempting to capitalise on GAME's troubles, following a controversial GAME Reward points trade-in campaign by ShopTo, and a more shocking campaign by Blockbuster.

Sources close to the negotiation process have indicated that a deal to save GAME is within reach and the troubled retailer could exit administration early next week.

A total of 277 of GAME Group's 609 UK and Ireland stores have been closed since the store entered administration and close to 2,104 employees have lost their jobs.
