TELL US A TALE
This isn't a 'what we don't want to see' article, but co-op play made Lost Planet 2 a lesser game than the original. For Lost Planet 3 we'd like to see Capcom - and Spark (grumble grumble) bring back a strong, focused narrative instead of a series of skirmishes.
A fantastic story is something we all expect, of course, but it needs to be conveyed in a way that feels natural and fluent. The two previous games felt diluted and disjointed, with unexplored characters and a weak sense of direction, so we want a plot to ties everything together and give our efforts a tangible purpose.
Spark Unlimited might not have the greatest track record, but their western influences should hopefully find their way into Lost Planet 3. A strong script, brilliant voice acting and a cast of compelling characters that we can identify with would help too. Capcom has laid out the foundations, hopefully Spark is able to build on them.
