Sony has said it's making efforts to resolve the issues currently preventing Mass Effect 3's 'Multiplayer Challenge' promotions from being hosted on PS3.
The special multiplayer weekend events have been appearing on PC and Xbox 360 but, so far, not on PC. BioWare explained last week that "Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC," due to undisclosed approval issues.
Specifics on the situation are still undisclosed but, more encouragingly, Sony says it's working on a fix. "We are currently working together with EA and BioWare on an implementation to bring Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekends to PS3," a Sony rep has told Shacknews.
The latest Xbox/PC event, Operation Resurgence, coincided with the release of the game's first multiplayer expansion, the Resurgence Pack. The downloadable add-on introduces new maps, characters, weapons, and consumables. Those who participated in the weekend event were given a free Reserves Pack containing one new Resurgence character the following week.
