Dishonored 'heavily pushing player choice' - video interview

Co-creative directors discuss Bethesda's brilliant-looking stealth action game

Dishonored had been keeping a low profile since its July 2011 reveal, but that's all changed over the last few weeks.

In development at Arkane Studios and set to be published by Bethesda, the first person stealth action game is being helmed by co-creative directors Raphael Colantonio, who was lead designer on Arx Fatalis, and Deus Ex lead designer Harvey Smith. Its art lead is Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov.

Our friends at Official PlayStation Magazine recently got the chance to sit down with the game's creators for a video interview, in which Colantonio said the studio's heavily pushing player choice in the game.

He said: "To us, player choice, the choice in a video game in general is what makes the experience unique to each player, and it's what makes a big difference between a movie and a game, so as many choices as you can make a second the more interesting for us it is.

"Not only can you play either stealthily or more brutally, you're going to play a combination of that, we believe. At every instance you have this feeling that you can improvise and make plans and if things go wrong then you have to use some creativity to get out of the situation."
