Journey developer thatgamecompany is close to finding a new publisher following the conclusion of its three-game deal with Sony.
With Journey being as fantastic as it was, fans will be eager to know what's coming next from the unique studio, and they won't have to wait long.
"We're very close in figuring out what the next deal is," studio co-founder Jenova Chen told VG247 regarding the hunt for a new publisher. "We're negotiating with various partners, so maybe within the next month, we'll be able to determine which is the [right deal]."
Chen went on to add, "In terms of when you'll know about the next game, I think we intentionally announce our games very early. We announced Flower half a year after we launched Flow. We announced Journey half a year after we launched Flower. So hopefully within this year, you'll hear from us about our next game."
With flOw, Flower and Journey all being blissful, tranquil, and artistic experiences unlike almost anything else, it'll be very interesting to see what Chen and his team can come up with next.
The developer's executive producer Robin Hunicke has recently left the studio to join Tiny Speck, creator of browser MMOG Glitch.
