Diablo 3: Blizzard 'continuing to explore' possibility of console release

But the developer still won't officially confirm its plans

Although Blizzard has dropped plenty of hints about a console version of Diablo 3, the studio's still not ready to officially confirm such a project is in the works.

The latest wink-and-a-smile tease comes from an interview we conducted with Leonard Boyarski, senior world designer, earlier today. When prodded, he told us Blizzard is "continuing to explore the possibilities".

There's a veritable mountain of evidence the action RPG will be invading Microsoft and Sony consoles at some point. Blizzard's COO Paul Sams has said the dev is "not afraid" of console development and will provide any console projects will offer a true Blizzard-level experience.

Game director Jay Wilson also said the studio never invested in console development to the degree that we're doing now with Diablo 3, and lead designer Josh Mosqueira has said Blizzard's 'very serious' about doing a console version. Surely it's just a matter of time now.
