Gaikai and OnLive stay hush on 'Sony acquisition' talk

Rumours of 'PlayStation cloud gaming deal' intensify

OnLive and Gaikai have both declined to confirm or deny speculation that one of the cloud gaming companies is in the process of being acquired by Sony.

Speaking to CVG, representatives for both companies said they were not able to discuss the matter in depth, yet each insist that it would be important for the press to meet with them at an E3 conference.

Gaikai has, separately, sent out press conference invitations for an announcement that it claims "has the potential to change the future of video games, game consoles and how we play".

Trade website MCV claims that the invitation makes Gaikai the frontrunner in the alleged Sony buyout.

The PlayStation group has not yet confirmed speculation that an acquisition is taking place or will be announced.

Recent rumours suggest that Sony is preparing a bespoke cloud gaming channel on its PlayStation 3 console, yet it is believed that an acquisition of Gaikai or OnLive is vital in providing this service.
