Warner Bros. has announced that a new fighting game "franchise" is in the works at Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios.
Titled 'Injustice: Gods Among Us' and set for release next year on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U, the game promises to introduce "a deep, original story featuring a large cast of favourite DC Comics icons such as Batman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and many others.
"Set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, players will experience heroes and villains engaging in epic battles on a massive scale," the announcement adds.
NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon said: "We can't wait to reveal Injustice: Gods Among Us because it will give our fans and gamers an epic experience as they battle like gods as their favourite DC Comics villains and heroes. Our team is excited to make a fighting game that is filled with fast-paced action, incredible story-telling and iconic DC Comics characters."
The first Injustice: Gods Among Us trailer is coming soon, according to the game's newly launched website.
