Nintendo's confirmed leaked pics of a redesigned Wii U controller are indeed real, and officially named the pad the Wii U GamePad.
During the on-going Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed that the firm has redesigned the button layout and the back of the controller for comfort, and added proper analogue sticks that can be 'clicked'.
Iwata also confirmed the small square added to the Gamepad is the NFS Reader / Writer, and suggested that a TV power button will be able to turn on your TV - but that's not confirmed.
The GamePad also includes motion and gyro sensors, as previously confirmed.
"New technologies in general have made life easier and more efficient , but we have to discuss what this means for human relationships," Iwata said. "We want to create something to unite people rather than divide them."
