Digital Extremes, the studio responsible for the Darkness 2 and the forthcoming Star Trek game, is working on a PC only free-to-play shooter.
According to chief creative director Steve Sinclair, Warframe is "a shelved concept we kept coming back to."
He goes on to describe the tone of the game: "High-tech machine-gun Ninjas set in a far-future, over-hyphenated, Manga-Dune mash-up. Free-to-play lets us take risks. It allows us to build Warframe with our players."
According to the statement released today by Digital Extremes, Warframe is a co-op shooter allowing for squads of four players. You can sign up for the beta right now.
