PlayStation 3 owners in Europe will not receive the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut content until July 4th, developer BioWare has said.
The free add-on content expands on the endings of Mass Effect 3 through additional scenes and epilogue sequences. Europe Xbox 360 and PC users will receive the content on Tuesday, June 26th - a week before the content arrives on PS3.
It is not known why the PS3 version is delayed in Europe. North America PS3 owners will not be hit by the delay. Various guides circulating online explain how Europe PS3 users can access US content by registering a new account.
The Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut is not expected to offer additional gameplay, but instead clarify some of the cut-scenes which concluded the trilogy.
BioWare was engulfed by criticisms from Mass Effect 3 fans following the game's release, due to many being dissatisfied by the title's narrative conclusions.
However, despite the volume of complaints, it appears that only a minority of customers had aired complaints.
BioWare said the Extended Cut "provides more of the answers and closure that players have been asking for".
"It gives a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings."
