Wii U GamePad 'distracting for fighting games' - Tekken producer

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 likely to use tablet controller in fairly non-demanding ways

Juggling two screens when playing fighting games on Wii U "is pretty distracting", according to Tekken series boss Katsuhiro Harada.

That's why Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will utilise the console's tablet controller in fairly non-demanding ways, he told Eurogamer.

"Looking at the small screen and the big screen at the same time is pretty distracting for a fighting game. So we're thinking of making it useful as a way of having shortcuts," he said.

"Or, by making progressing through the game more convenient. Or by playing alone on the GamePad screen."

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 hits PS3 and Xbox 360 this September, and will arrive on Wii U during the console's four-month launch window.

Peter Molyneux also said last month that monitoring both Wii U screens can "be a bit demanding", and that sometimes players "seem to be confused about which screen they should look at when they play with the tablet".

Microsoft has also questioned the benefits of two screens when playing twitch games.
