Revenue for the three month period came in at 18.62 billion yen (£151m), up 55.8 percent from the same quarter last year, while net profit totalled 1.32 billion yen (£10.7m), representing a 290.2 percent increase.

As previously reported, Capcom has now shipped over one million copies of Dragon's Dogma globally.

The Japanese company noted today that the PS3 and Xbox 360 game "struggled abroad" following its late May release, but said "its popularity in the more profitable domestic market exceeded expectations", "setting the stage for creating a series of titles".

We called the game the most hardcore RPG on consoles in our 8.5/10 Dragon's Dogma review.

PS3, Xbox 360 and PC release Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which launched in late March in the US, Europe and Australia, and at the end of April in Japan, shipped 450,000 units during the quarter ended June 30.
