In its first month on sale Microsoft's first home console, the elephantine Xbox, sold 1.5 million in North America. Due to a staggered release the console wasn't available in Europe until March 2002, where it managed 48,000 in three days. In the same time Japan, which got the console a month earlier than Europeans, the Xbox moved 123,334 units in three days. Although the Japanese were initially quite receptive to the hardware, the Xbox wasn't able to gain much traction following initial launch buzz.
