Hitman Absolution director Tore Blystad has revealed that Hitman Absolution has been tweaked following outrage at the game's notorious Saints trailer.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Blystad said the studio had responded to criticism of the trailer by adjusting the tone of the relevant level. "We learned from the trailer that we really needed to give these characters some context and some backstory.
"We're working within the game - within that level - to build these characters up before you meet them. That way you know what you're getting and you aren't put off by them."
Blystad explained that the studio hadn't anticipated the outraged reception the trailer received. "The game is inspired by Grindhouse-style movies, so for us the trailer was [a] natural way to deal with that subject matter."
Bylstad added that he believes the controversy will have faded from memory by the time the game is released in November.
CVG's Sarah Ditum was among those outraged by the trailer. Read her response here.
