A dedicated Dark Souls fan has spent hours working on a mod to fix the resolution issues found in the PC port of the game, which launched today.
When NeoGAF user Durante heard the Dark Souls PC port had a fixed rendering resolution of 1024x720, they couldn't believe it, but when it turned out to be true, they "vowed to do [their] best to fix it."
That's just what Durante has done with their unofficial mod. It works by intercepting "the game's calls to the DirectX 9 API and changes them as necessary to enable a higher internal rendering resolution."
Durante has posted instructions on how to use the mod, but warns that it has only been tested on their computer, and they "can not and will not guarantee that it will work for anyone else, or not have any adverse effect on your game/computer. Use at your own risk!"
Durante is still working on the mod, so it's by no means a finished product, but it has fixed some issues.
The download is up and ready to go if you are interested in this Dark Souls PC mod.
Thanks to VG 24/7 for the heads up.
