Aliens Colonial Marines: 'Escape' multiplayer mode revealed

Reach the escape point, or play as xenomorphs and eliminate the marines

Sega has revealed a new competitive multiplayer mode for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Titled Escape, it pits two teams of four against each other, one playing as marines and the other as xenomorphs.

The hunted Marines are tasked with reaching an escape point in a limited time, while the xenomorphs are challenged with wiping them out as quickly as possible.

Gearbox first revealed elements of Aliens Colonial Marines' multiplayer component back in April, when we visited the studio's Dallas HQ to go hands-on with an eight versus eight team deathmatch mode.

"It's a bit of a revelation to find a team deathmatch mode that's more than a simple xeno-bashing muck about - the asymmetrical gameplay is equal parts tense and grin-inducing," we said in our Aliens Colonial Marines preview.

Publisher Sega has confirmed an Aliens: Colonial Marines release date of February 12, 2013. That's on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, with a launch date for Wii U set to be "revealed at a later time".
