Dark Souls director concerned about difficulty

Is considering an easy mode so 'everyone can complete' the game

Dark Souls is known for its difficulty and for giving gamers a challenge. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has considered adding an easier difficulty so everyone can enjoy the game, but would that ruin the essence of Dark Souls?

In an interview with Metro, Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki says that he wants his games to be "satisfying rather than difficult," and is aware that many "hesitate to play" Dark Souls due to its difficulty level.

The fact that Dark Souls has been cut off from a particular group of gamers has made Miyazaki consider "another difficulty that everyone can complete or carefully send all gamers the messages behind our difficult games."

Miyazaki is aware that gamers may not want easier games, but rather "what they want is interesting and worthwhile games to play." This thought leaves him thinking that "it is natural that hindrance or stress that does not attribute to such interesting and worthwhile elements will be removed in the end."

Would you welcome an easy mode in Dark Souls or would it ruin the overall experience?
