Borderlands 2 'Mechromancer' DLC given 'tentative' October release date

Will cost $10 or 800 Microsoft Points if you didn't pre-order

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has revealed a 'tentative' release date of October 16 for Borderland 2's Mechromancer character class DLC.

The update will be free to those who pre-ordered the game, but will cost $10 or 800 MS Points to everyone else, reports Eurogamer.

The new Necromancer character class will be one of the first DLC treats to come, prepped as free post-release DLC for all those who pre-order the game.

Gearbox previously announced that it will release four campaign add-on packs between the Borderlands 2 release date on September 18 and June 2013.

Retailing individually for $9.99, they'll each feature "several hours of gameplay and introduce new adventures, allies, enemies and environments".

A Borderlands 2 Season Pass enabling players to pre-purchase the four add-ons will be available when the shooter launches this month. It will be priced at $29.99 on PS3 and PC, and 2400 Microsoft Points (£20.56) on Xbox 360.
