Ubisoft teases new Call of Juarez with image

Announcement of a fourth series entry expected this Thursday

Ubisoft looks set to reveal a new Call of Juarez game on Thursday.

Featuring the date '09.06.12', the image to the right was posted on the series' Facebook page.

A new entry would be the fourth in the Western FPS franchise, following 2006's Call of Juarez, 2009's Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and 2011's Call of Juarez: The Cartel.

All three games were developed by Techland, which is currently working on Dead Island: Riptide and the newly revealed hack and slash fantasy game Project Hell.

Publisher Ubisoft reached out to fans for feedback on Call of Juarez: The Cartel last November, hinting at the possibility of another entry in the series. Players that had attached the game to their UPlay account were asked to provide feedback on its strengths and weaknesses, and to vote on what kinds of set pieces they'd like to play in future Call of Juarez games.

If a fourth game is indeed on the way, we can only assume the third one sold well for Ubisoft because it certainly wasn't well received by critics. It has Metascores of 47 on PC and Xbox 360, and 45 on PC - better than the 3/10 we gave it in our Call of Juarez: The Cartel review, in which we said: "An inept shooter that manages to make Duke Nukem Forever look like Modern Warfare."
