Everyone except snobby schmup aficionados loves Ikaruga, the 2001 Treasure shooter famous for its brutal difficulty. The game tasked players with both absorbing and dodging bullets depending on what colour they were; a challenge that is a bit like rubbing your stomach and tapping your head at the same time.
But the game's creator Hiroshi Iuchi is now ready to show off his latest game, called Kokuga.
It's a scrolling mech shooter in the way you expect, but set for release on the Nintendo 3DS and likely offering four-player co-op. It would be rude to say it looks a bit flabby, a bit rough around the edges, a bit samey, so I won't.
