Ubisoft's digital distribution service could add 3rd party games

Company may look to rival Origin and Steam with Uplay PC

Ubisoft is considering adding third party games to its offering of first party titles on digital distribution platform Uplay PC.

Uplay launched in 2009 as a rewards system built into Ubisoft's PC and console games but it was recently revamped, with new features including an integrated shop, the ability to directly purchase and download games, plus a friends list and a chat system.

And Ubisoft's Stephanie Perotti has told MCV that the service could be expanded to rival the likes of EA's Origin and Steam.

"We remain open to opportunities. Right now, we're starting the service with our own games, but as we go forward, we plan to potentially add other titles."

"The plan for UPlay goes beyond digital distribution," Perotti added. "We continue to evolve the service across all platforms, including PC, console and mobile. The more Ubisoft games you play, the more rewards you can get, as well as several online services that players would expect."
