Wii U Nintendo Direct - LIVE coverage from 8am BST Thursday

Nintendo to announce release date and price

Nintendo will reveal the RRP and release date for Wii U at special press events tomorrow - and our live coverage kicks off from 8am BST (midnight PST).

Japan goes first with a Wii U webcast on the Japanese Nintendo Direct page on Thursday morning, and CVG will be covering the event with a comprehensive live blog as well as publishing all the key news announcements.

The Japanese event will be followed by a broadcast on the Nintendo Europe website at 3 p.m. (UK time), where full UK release and price info for Wii U is expected to be revealed.

The EU broadcast will run parallel with a New York press event where the Wii U US release date is also expected to be announced, with coverage taking place on the region's Nintendo Direct website.

CVG sources have previously pointed to an early December Wii U UK release date, with the North American launch likely to occur in late November.

Key industry figures have also indicated that Nintendo sees a sub-$300 (£190) price point as crucial for Wii U to succeed in North America, and NoA president Reggie Fils-Aime has said on record that he expects consumers to be "pleasantly surprised" by Wii U's launch price.

The curtain raises at 8am BST. Check back on Thursday morning for all the new announcements, in full, as they happen.
