NSW has now passed the R18+ legislation

Two states down, six to go

While the R18+ legislation has passed through the Federal government, now we must wait as every state and territory has it pass through its laws. ACT passed the legislation in August, and now NSW has followed suit.

NSW has passed the R18+ legislation for video games over night, following the ACT's acceptance last month.

The new law means Australian gamers are not restricted by what games they can buy in local retailers, and of course it will be an offense to sell R18+ games to minors.

The finalised guidelines for the R18+ rating were announced last week, and there are still some instances in place that will prevent games being classified in Australia.

The R18+ legislation comes into affect January 2013.
