Borderlands 2 shoots to the top of the UK chart

Trio of new releases outsell all; Encouraging start for LittleBigPlanet Vita

A comprehensive marketing campaign has helped the critically acclaimed Borderlands 2 debut at number one in the UK Charts.

The game, developed by Texas outfit Gearbox Software, managed to outpace another hot contender for number one - Codemaster's F1 2012.

New release PES 2013 comes third, ahead of the regular chart topper Sleeping Dogs.

All three new releases represent a boom for the UK market. Borderlands 2 is, by unit sales, the biggest new release of 2012.

The PlayStation business will likely be pleased with the result of LittleBigPlanet Vita, which finished sixth behind Lego Batman 2.
