Assassin's Creed 3 plot leaves possible sequels 'plenty of room to play'

Ubisoft's iconic series concludes trilogy, but doesn't end the story

Assassin's Creed 3 may finish the story of Desmond, but does that mean the end for the AC series? With the cash it rakes in for Ubisoft, probably not.

And that's okay, because Assassin's Creed 3 will leave Ubisoft's script writers with plenty of room to play, according to lead writer Corey May.

"Should they decide in the future to do other stuff, there's plenty of room to explore, plenty of seeds that have been planted that won't conflict," May told Shacknews.

May went on to promise that, unlike previous AC games, you will actually understand what the bloody hell's going on with the ending of AC3.

"The ending should not come out of no where," he said. "You will not wake up and find that you were in an Animus reliving the life of someone who was in an Animus. We are not doing that. It was not all just a dream."

He goes on, "I think people that have invested in the Desmond storyline will understand where the end of the game comes from. We're tying up loose ends and providing answers and resolution to things. You're not going to get another tremendous insane-o cliffhanger."

As well as being one of the year's big blockbusters, AC3 is also one of the top titles in the Wii U's launch lineup, and you can see screenshots of the Nintendo version here.
