Resident Evil 2 is often considered the best Resident Evil game, and some go as far as calling it the best survival horror game ever made. The fan favourite may just see a remake, but nothing is set in stone so try to quell the excitement.
During an interview with GameSpot, Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said that a Resident Evil 2 remake is definitely a possibility, but at the moment it is not a reality.
Hirabayashi stated that "if the fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration." The key word here is consideration. Hirabayashi is not promising a HD remake of Resident Evil 2, and the studio isn't working on it at the moment, but the door is open for consideration.
To ensure his statement is clear and he isn't giving anyone the wrong idea Hirabayashi clearly says, "just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumour-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now."
It may not be in the works now, but it wouldn't hurt to let Capcom know you want it.
While we wait patiently in hopes for a Resident Evil 2 HD remake, Resident Evil 6 hits the shelves October 2 on PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC release expected after the console versions launch. For those hoping for a Wii U port, don't get your hopes up.
