HOW TO... SELECT THE BEST SKILLS

At the end of each chapter you get to spend your accumulated skill points on various stat boosts. You should match these to the campaign you're on and your own play style, but a good starting point is:

  • Field Medic - your partner gives you a few health tablets when rescuing you
  • Item Drop Increase - more defeated enemies drop items
  • Critical Hit - increases your chance of getting a critical hit

After completing one of the campaigns, you can configure up to eight different skill sets from the abilities you've unlocked. You can then switch between these sets in-game using your smartphone, so you can choose the most suitable setup for your current situation.

HOW TO... SURVIVE BEING DOWNED

When downed and dying you can still aim down the sights and shoot nearby enemies, so aim to get headshots for maximum effect. If you know where your partner is then crawl towards them as they can revive you instantly.
If you can't reach your partner then do your best to move away from any threats until the gauge refills and you'll recover, albeit with minimal health remaining. However, if an enemy lands an attack on you while in this situation you'll die immediately, so be wary.

HOW TO... AVOID SURPRISE ATTACKS

Don't assume that any corpses you encounter are actually dead! Approach still bodies you find with caution and be ready to respond if they suddenly swipe at you. Melee attacks are often ineffective in this situation, so instead back off and shoot them first before landing a finishing blow.
Remember, even if you've already cleared out an area and checked all of the bodies, they may still reanimate and attack when you later return to the same location so always be on your guard.

HOW TO... FIND ALL THE SERPENT EMBLEMS

Serpent emblems are blue discs that can be gathered by shooting or meleeing them and are used to unlock secret files and figurines in your collection. Although some are in plain sight, they are often tucked away in corners or up on high points, so have a good look around when you reach a new area.
Some serpent emblems are hidden behind breakable crates, in drawers, underwater in sinks etc, so interact with any items you can to track them down. Be wary that these interactions can also trigger surprise enemy attacks, so stay on your guard.
There are 80 in total to collect, with four to be found in each of the 20 campaign chapters. If you're struggling to track any of them down, our colleagues over at GamesRadar.com have put together a complete visual Resident Evil 6 serpent emblem locations guide to help you out.
