Nintendo has confirmed it will re-release previously retail-only 3DS titles via the eShop in Japan.
The release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 in August kicked off a new initiative at Nintendo, which sees first-party 3DS titles get simultaneous retail and digital releases.
During a Nintendo Direct broadcast earlier today, the platform holder confirmed that eight titles released prior to this recent digital onslaught will get eShop re-releases on November 1.
They include Ocarina of Time 3D, Pilotwings Resort, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, Hana to Ikimorio Rittai Zukan, and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (thanks Joystiq).
The announcement was specific to Japan, but Nintendo of Europe will be holding a 3DS-focused Nintendo Direct broadcast on October 4 at 7pm BST/8pm CET, where we may hear of similar plans for The West.
