Borderlands 2 will be receiving its first DLC expansion on October 16 with the release of 'Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty'.
The pirate-themed Borderlands 2 DLC was hinted at in the Achievements attached to the newly released Mechromancer character.
Gearbox president Randy Pitchford has confirmed the DLC will feature a new area called 'Oasis' as well as the pirate queen Captain Scarlett.
"You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there's no water," he told the Asssociated Press. "It's all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there's the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on."
Vault hunters will go up against new enemies such as the sand worms, and get access to the 'Sand Skiff' a new vehicles introduced in the DLC. A new currency called seraph crystals will also be included.
Fans digging through the game files and posting their findings on the Gearbox forums have said the Captain Scarlett DLC will also include new heads for each class, additional bosses and multiple raids. However, these haven't been mentioned as of yet.
