Epic Games has hired industry veteran Laura Fryer as general manager of its newly established Seattle studio.
The Gears of War developer revealed the new studio in September, saying it "will be initially focused on engineering efforts for its award-winning Unreal Engine 4 technology".
Fryer has over 17 years of games industry experience. She was a founding member of Microsoft's Xbox project, and later served as producer on a number of the publisher's biggest titles, most notably Epic's Gears of War. For the last four years she has served as general manager of WB Games Seattle.
"Laura Fryer is one of the brightest leaders of the game industry today, and we're thrilled to have her guide our new Seattle studio," said Epic Games president Michael Capps. "Laura was a key member of the Gears of War team, and we've long hoped to work with her again."
Epic design director and Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski recently left the studio after two decades at the company.
