Super Meat Boy studio Team Meat has revealed it is working on a new game, Mew-Genics, but unfortunately it means Super Meat Boy for iOS has been put on the back burner.
Studio co-founders Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes have been working on a new Super Meat Boy for iOS, but a post on Team Meat's blog explains that after a "game jam over a weekend" they found themselves lost in a "totally out-of-left-field project," known as Mew-Genics.
Team Meat is not prepared to reveal too much about Mew-Genics, but Edmund describes it in the blog post as the "strangest game [he has] ever worked on."
They say "the game will be randomly generated, strange and involve cats."
Team Meat has decided that Mew-Genics will be their next official game, but assure Super Meat Boy fans that the new Super Meat Boy is still underway and to "just hold on till we squeeze this little kitten out of our loins."
Development on Mew-Genics is going quite rapidly, so expect gameplay details, screen shots, and platform reveals very soon.
